World Menopause Day

Prior to the last two decades, conversations around menopause happened with your doctor or in hushed tones with your best friend, but for the most part, it was a topic that was more taboo than talked about. October 18th is World Menopause Day, with a special focus on education and awareness for the entire month of October. While menopause is a growing part of high profile and national conversations that are breaking down the barriers long associated with this dramatic life change there is still a societal stigma that plagues this natural event in women’s lives. Menopause awareness month helps all people, but especially women understand the possible health issues during and after menopause and helps to eliminate the discomfort that comes with these discussions. As part of i-On’s mission to help women over 50 live happier, healthier lives, we are paying special attention to this important day.

Dr. Xi

i-On's founder, Dr. Xi Huang, spent over 30 years dedicating his career to finding a solution to one major menopause-induced health issue: skin health. Estrogen levels have historically been the focus of the discussion when it comes to female aging. But there’s a little-known fact that you may not know – and that’s OK, most don’t! It’s not just about deficient estrogen levels, it’s about a surge in iron, which is not a friend to mature skin or the body in general. The cessation of menstruation eliminates one way the body removes excess iron naturally, leaving that iron to accumulate in the upper layers of the skin by an increase of as much as 42% after menopause. When exposed to sunlight and environmental factors, that iron actives free radicals known to be a cause of the appearance of skin aging.

More than a century of research has pointed to the connection between increased iron levels on the skin and the appearance of damage to skin cells. This is the reason i-On Skincare was born – to address this little talked about scientific reason behind visibly aging skin. i-On Age Disrupting Skincare is the first and only cosmetic skincare line that addresses the impact of iron.

Stemming from his three decades of research, Dr. Xi (our true ironman) developed a proprietary, patented technology called De-Ironizing Inducer, or DII®, that combines the previously incompatible high-potency vitamin C with powder created from natural pearls to naturally exfoliate and release excess iron from the surface of the skin. Removing excess iron proactively helps stop free radicals from ever forming in the first place. Then some of the most luxurious and skin supporting ingredients including niacinamide, portulaca oleracea extract and squalene help to strengthen, support and heal skin enduring all menopause-related fluctuations.

i-On embraces a pro-aging approach to skincare empowering women with knowledge, confidence and skincare that delivers real results to a very real issue. Amidst all the unpredictability of menopause, i-On is the ONLY cosmetic solution to removing excess iron from the surface of the skin. Customers consistently attest to the positive changes they see in their skin after trying i-On.

We spoke to Tiffany Begoon, a long-time loyal i-On devotee, “It’s a whole new way to truly take care of your skin. I’ve been using it for the past 15 months day and night and my skin has never felt or looked better. You’ve got to try it to believe it.”

There are so many products on the market promising fairy tales and unicorns. “If you’re like me, you have lots of “dead soldiers" in your linen closet”, says Begoon. “Dead soldiers are all those products you thought were going to be the solution to your drying and aging skin issues but sadly disappoint. But you can’t stop trying right? Let me suggest you try something truly different when it comes to skincare – i-On Skincare. The technology is completely different from other skincare.”

If you're over 50, you can relate. “You literally wake up one morning in your early 50’s, look in the mirror, and ask what happened to my face? I’ll tell you what happened . . . menopause. But it’s not what you think though. Yes, it is about estrogen dropping but it is also about iron increasing which has been found to lead to rapid skin aging.”

And what if you are only discovering the solution in i-On now? “It’s never too late”, says Begoon. “I found i-On Skincare and my face and skin have never felt or looked so good. i-On addresses excess iron – it’s the only skincare that does.”

“I recently had a few friends whisper in my ear, ‘what did you do to your face it looks amazing!’ I think they are sadly disappointed when I tell them ‘nothing’ … just been using this amazing new skincare line for the past year. I wear SPF and stay out of the sun as much as possible, but the secret is really i-On Skincare.”
