Meet DII Technology: A Skincare Breakthrough

Let’s talk about something you may not think about often—iron! Yes, the same iron that helps power our bodies can actually work against us when there’s too much of it, especially in our skin. But before I dive into how that happens, let’s start with a bit of science. Don’t worry, it’s easier than it sounds!

The Fenton Reaction: What Does Iron Have to Do with Skincare?

Iron is great for keeping us alive, but in excess, it can create something called the Fenton reaction. This reaction produces reactive oxygen species—basically, tiny, damaging radicals that cause your skin to "rust" over time. Imagine the way metal rusts and wears down—that’s what happens when excess iron causes oxidative stress in your skin.

Iron: Essential but Tricky

We need iron to survive—it helps transport oxygen and fuels energy production. But here’s the catch: when iron builds up over time (especially after menopause), it becomes more of a villain than a hero. Stored iron can trigger oxidative damage, leading to wrinkles, dullness, and signs of aging.

My research discovered that vitamin C is fantastic at reducing this stored iron—basically, unlocking it so it’s no longer stuck in your skin and causing damage.
  2. Release: Once the iron is reduced, it’s released from its stronghold in ferritin, like opening a gate. But we can’t stop here—free iron can still cause harm, so we need to act fast!
  3. Remove: This is the magic part! Calcium carbonate comes in to scoop up that free iron and remove it from your skin. It binds with the iron and takes it away through an ion exchange process. As a bonus, this process releases calcium ions that actually benefit your skin, leaving it refreshed and ready to renew itself.

This combination of reducing, releasing, and removing iron is what makes DII® technology so unique. It doesn’t just fight aging—it tackles the root cause of iron-induced oxidative damage, giving your skin a fresh start.
